Let's get to know another team member from our meet the fairowners series: Emma-Heidi Rätsep, our Back-Office Specialist!
Today, Emma-Heidi talks about her experience of joining Fairown: the expectations and reality, her inspiration and future, which will hopefully encourage more people to take up sustainable consumption habits.
Emma-Heidi is part of our operations team. Her goal is to make sure our customers have a smooth experience when offering our flexible product ownership plan. She provides technical sales support, takes care of transactions, and deals with the nitty-gritty to coordinate operational activities.
Emma-Heidi, tell us about your professional background.
After finishing high school, I moved to Tallinn and got a job as a waitress. It was a good chance to earn money as I lived alone for the first time. That job was not something I wanted to do long term and I felt it was time to move on.
I took a year off for myself, but now I’m studying Advertising and Public Relations at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School of Tallinn University. It took me a couple of months to find a job I wanted to pursue my career at, and then I found Fairown. Now, I’m trying to balance my school and work life.
You are our youngest team member. What has your journey been like at Fairown?
Indeed, I am the youngest of the bunch, but I’m not treated any differently because of that. I have been here for almost nine months and my journey has been very fun. People were very welcoming when I joined the team and it was easy to blend in.
During my time at Fairown, I’ve learned a lot about myself, our team, and, of course, my work. My job as a Back-Office Specialist is something that I haven’t done before, so I enjoy the experience and I’m excited to see what’s next.
What were your expectations before joining the team?
Working at Fairown is my first start-up experience. I really did not know what to expect, but it is so much more different from what I’ve seen before. The atmosphere in the office is very supportive, warm, and cosy.
What drives and inspires you the most in your daily work?
Definitely, my colleagues! Especially our three-member operations team! People at Fairown are here for each other and there’s always someone to give you a helping hand, if needed.
It’s very motivating to come to the office, when I know that my day will be fun. Even more, we can work together towards our common goal - to make the world more sustainable.
How do you switch off, what are your hobbies?
I’m from the countryside, so when I feel tense, it’s my go-to place. It’s where I can rest and relax.
I adore my sweet pets, especially Säde, my 4-year-old Rottweiler who is always keen to play with me!
I also like to play tennis a couple times a week. It’s another way to rest my mind.
Where do you see yourself and Fairown in a couple of years?
I see how hard our team works, which convinces me that Fairown will grow a lot as a company. I’m looking forward to enjoying the ride. I hope that more people will see how important it is to take up sustainable consumption habits and why reusing products is crucial for the environment.
